Sip, Sip, Slurp, Slurp

For all you trout junkies out there, the Delayed Harvest reach of the Nantahala River is the place to be right now. Daily hatches of March Browns, Quills, Dark Stones and Midges make for some happy feeding fish.

On our most recent "working" reconnaissance trip we found feeding fish spread throughout the river. Happily slurping midges on current lines, they reluctantly fell victim to tiny soft hackles drifted under a small caddis dry. After several cycles of the old drift and set, a flashy streamer livened up our walk back downstream to the car. Stop in the fly shop at the Wesser General Store for the flies and a few cold ones for the end of the day!

Tight Loops,

  1. Thanks for the article JEB. Fished the East Branch of the French Broad outside of Rosman NC this past week with success. Look forward to your updates.
